Section 1.12: Housing Benefits

Here we focus only on those special benefits designed to make housing affordable for families with children. Public (Social) Assistance programs sometimes include rental or home ownership costs in budget calculations. In addition, however, some countries offer housing allowances to make standard housing affordable to those with low incomes. The allowances can add a significant component to income. Families with children and the elderly are often targeted by housing allowance programs.
